John Mayer Announces Spring 2019 International Tour Dates

142

John Mayer has a busy spring and summer ahead of him. The guitarist announced on Tuesday that he will head back overseas for a run of solo tour dates in Australia and Asia, beginning in late March and continuing through mid-April. The solo tour will kick off Mayer’s 2019 concert campaign, which continues into the summer with the previously announced Dead & Company summer tour starting on May 31st.

Mayer’s international solo concerts begin in Auckland, New Zealand on March 23rd, followed by a trio of Australian performances on March 25th, 27th, and 29th. The tour continues into April with stops across southeast Asia including Singapore; Bangkok, Thailand; Jakarta, Indonesia; Hong Kong, China; followed by two performances in Tokyo, Japan to close things out on April 10th and 11th. Tuesday afternoon’s announcement did not go into detail as to which venues Mayer would be playing during the Asia leg of the tour, but did state that ticket and show information for those cities will be announced in the upcoming weeks.

Mayer’s spring solo shows are set to include two sets of music, with more songs in rotation than ever before according to the 41-year-old guitarist, who released his seventh studio album, The Search for Everything, back in April 2017. Mayer’s 2017 world tour in promotion of the new album featured the return of the John Mayer Trio, with bassist Pino Palladino and drummer Steve Jordan. Mayer did not specify whether or not the two musicians would be joining him on the spring tour, but fans should be optimistic.

Mayer has made more of an effort to stretch his creative abilities beyond just that of the solo pop/rock realm in 2018. He teamed up with Tame Impala‘s Kevin Parker for a track featured on Travis Scott‘s 2018 album, Astroworld. He’s also taken advantage of his comedic abilities and love for social media with a new weekly series titled “Current Mood”, which airs most Sunday nights on his Instagram.

Pre-sale tickets for the New Zealand and Australia performances will begin on Friday, December 14th, with general on-sale to follow a few days later on December 17th. More information can be found on  John Mayer’s official website.
