Lindsey Buckingham Settles Fleetwood Mac Lawsuit

206

Guitarist Lindsey Buckingham settled the lawsuit he filed against his former Fleetwood Mac band mates. Buckingham took action after being fired from the legendary rock band earlier this year.

In an interview with CBS, Buckingham explained the circumstances that led to his departure from the group. According to Buckingham, vocalist Stevie Nicks, who joined Fleetwood Mac with Buckingham in 1975, was responsible for his ouster. Nicks reportedly gave her band mates an ultimatum to fire Buckingham or she would quit the band following a purported slight at a MusiCares Grammy event in January. In an earlier interview with CBS, Nicks and Mick Fleetwood blamed Buckingham’s reluctance to tour as the reason for his firing.

“I’m happy enough with it,” Buckingham told CBS about the settlement. “I’m not out there trying to twist the knife at all. I’m trying to look at this with some level of compassion, some level of wisdom. It hurt for a while. I did walk around for a few months with a visceral reaction to that.”

Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers guitarist Mike Campbell and Crowded House frontman Neil Finn replaced Buckingham in Fleetwood Mac. Watch Buckingham’s interview and Saturday Sessions live performance on CBS below:
