200

Pearl Jam frontman Eddie Vedder was among the performers at Sunday’s Global Citizen Festival: Mandela 100 in Johannesburg, South Africa. Vedder was supported for a portion of his set by the South African group The Soweto Gospel Choir.

Held at FNB Stadium, the event also saw performances by Beyonce & Jay-Z, Usher, Ed Sheeran, Femi Kuti, as well as Kacey Musgraves and Pharrell who each were joined by Coldplay‘s Chris Martin. Vedder’s solo set began with “Porch,” before the local choir came out for “Long Road” and “Better Man.” Vedder then closed his four-song set with a cover of John Lennon’s “Imagine.” The entire concert can be viewed below, Vedder’s set begins at the 5:57:56 mark:

Following the concert, incidents of attendees being robbed at gunpoint while leaving the arena began to surface on social media. The below statement was issued by organizers:

We are deeply disturbed by the reports of criminal activity against festival guests as they tried to leave the venue last night. The safety of our guests is always paramount and we understand and empathise with their concern and anger. The South African Police has made a statement to request that all victims file reports with them, which we strongly encourage. There will be more details to follow.
