With the holiday season upon us, now is the time of year when many families across the country set up elaborate lighting displays. John Tomasi of North Haledon, New Jersey, and his family unveil wild lighting displays each year and last year, they created a pattern set to the tune of the Phish classic “Llama.” Tomasi shared video of his Phishy Lights On Suter holiday show from 2017.
“I am a huge Phish fan and have always wanted to add a Phish song aptly placed in my holiday show,” Tomasi told Live For Live Music. “[In 2017,] my buddy Moose decided to come down to spend the holidays with our family. Moose and I are fraternity brothers and have been to countless shows together. … We were at The Great Went together. … Since he was coming down, I said ‘this is the year.’”
“A lot of my inspiration for what I do with lights comes from Phish shows,” Tomasi explained to L4LM. “Someday I would love to sit in the corner of the soundboard area at a show and just watch them conduct the show. And share in the groove.” John told Live For Live Music it takes him about 40 – 50 hours to set up the lights for each song. He also hinted a new Phish song might be part of the program this year.
