PREMIERE: Good Things 2018 Act RedHook Go Goth, Emo, Pop-Punk & More In Fiery ‘Turn Up The Stereotype’ Video

137

Hot on the heels of lubing up the main stage at Good Things Festival Sydney this past weekend for The Used, Babymetal, Stone Sour, The Offspring and more, local “screaming rap rock electro pop mutants” RedHook have dropped a fresh music video for their skitz new rager ‘Turn Up The Stereotype’.

Premiering exclusively via Music Feeds below, the clip follows on chronologically from the group’s debut offering ‘Minute On Fire’, kicking off with guitarist Craig Wilkinson (“sadboi”) and vocalist Emmy Mack (“strngegrrl”) being kidnapped by a bunch of nightmarishly creepy scientists and subjected to a bizarre experiment that sees them transformed into a range of different musical “genre identities”, from goth to glam, emo, pop-punk, indie & more.

“It was a super fun way to use the cinematic RedHook universe to visually represent our real life experience of trying to figure out where we fit in the music industry,” Mack explains.

“Since we launched this project back in June, a lot of our brushes with the industry have involved people trying to pin us into some kind of genre box. And I guess this is our way of rejecting those boxes.

“By playing a fun game of dress-ups and blowing things up,” she adds.

The clip also sees RedHook’s ranks expand by one, with the official introduction of drummer, Dan McFeeters.

Co-directed by RedHook and David Owen Blackley (Her Name Is Murder Productions) in collaboration with Chris Elder (Haus Party), the clip was half-filmed inside a decommissioned slaughterhouse out in western Sydney, and half-filmed inside the band’s bathroom shower.

Give it a watch below, and stay tuned to Music Feeds for a big announcement involving the group, coming tomorrow.
