Queen’s ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ Is Officially The Most-Streamed Song Of The 20th Century

Mama! ooooooh! One of the greatest songs ever written has just taken out the title of most-streamed song ever from the 20th Century.

Queen’s iconic chart-smasher ‘Bohemian Rhapsody’ has just surpassed a mind-boggling 1.6 billion streams globally across all major streaming services, overtaking the likes of Nirvana’s ‘Smells Like Teen Spirit’, both of Gun’s N’Roses’ big bangers ‘Sweet Child O’Mine’ and ‘November Rain’, not to mention A-ha’s ‘Take on Me’.

It’s no mean feat considering the song was released 30+ years before music streaming even became a thing.

The epic 1975 hit off Queen’s A Night At The Opera LP has undoubtedly been buoyed to peak greatness by the success of the recently released Rami Malek-starring Freddie Mercury biopic of the same name, which has already become the highest grossing music biopic in history.

Like a proud dad, Chairman and CEO of Universal Music Group, Sir Lucian Grainge, welcomed the news.

“’Bohemian Rhapsody’ is one the greatest songs by one of the greatest bands in history,” he said.

“We are so proud to represent Queen and are thrilled to see the song still inspiring new fans around the world more than four decades after its release.”
