Release Day Picks 2018 Spotify Playlist

190

Yesterday was the last Release Day Picks entry scheduled for 2018. If you happened to miss any of the new albums we highlighted over the past 12 months, this edition of Saturday Stream compiles a Spotify Playlist of the 2018 LPs, EPs, live albums, reissues, compilations, soundtracks and archival releases featured in our weekly column. Coming in just shy of 3,000 tracks and totaling 215+ hours of streaming possibilities, it’s fair to say there were plenty of notable albums released this year.

Among my favorites this year were Brandi Carlile’s By The Way, I Forgive You, Khruangbin’s Todo El Mundo, Yo La Tengo’s There’s A Riot Going On, Janelle Monae’s Dirty Computer, I’m With Her‘s See You Around, John Prine’s The Tree Of Forgiveness, Phil Cook‘s People Are My Drug, Kamasi Washington’s Heaven And Earth, Amanda ShiresTo The Sunset, Mountain Man’s Magic Ship, Ryley Walker’s The Lillywhite Sessions and Jeff Tweedy’s WARM. There were dozens of others I considered adding to that list, I could go on and on, evidence that 2018 was a fruitful year for new music.

We’ll be back with Release Day Picks on Fridays starting again early next year. Until then, spend some time digging into what we’ve been digging for the past few months below:
