Ringo Starr & Ronnie Wood Join Paul McCartney In London

156

Paul McCartney welcomed his Beatles band mate Ringo Starr and Ronnie Wood of The Rolling Stones to jam on “Get Back” as part of Macca’s encore in London last night. The collaboration came at O2 Arena during Paul’s final concert of 2018 on Sunday.

McCartney’s show on Sunday was following a similar script to most shows on Paul’s Freshen Up Tour of songs from his solo, Wings and Beatles’ repertoires until the encore. After kicking off the final portion of the evening with “Birthday,” Macca brought out a youth choir for another rendition of his holiday classic “Wonderful Christmastime.” Then, a drum set was rolled out on stage and Paul introduced Ronnie Wood and Ringo Starr, telling the crowd, “we might as well do a song together.” McCartney, Ronnie Wood, Ringo Starr and Paul’s band went on to play “Get Back,” which marked the tour debut for The Beatles’ 1969 single. Starr wished the crowd a Merry Christmas after the tune. McCartney told the audience it was a nice Christmas present and that he was going to “let the moment sink in.”

Paul and his band went on to end the concert with a run of “Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band (Reprise),” “Helter Skelter” and the Abbey Road tracks “Golden Slumbers,” “Carry That Weight” and “The End.” Watch fan-shot video of “Get Back” captured by strangedaysindeed9:
