Van Halen Reunion Tour With Michael Anthony And David Lee Roth Rumored For 2019

As 2018 begins to come to a close, festival lineup and concert rumors for 2019 continue to build excitement for fans across the country. The latest rumor beginning to circulate across the Internet is the potential 2019 reunion of Van Halen with their famous lineup consisting of guitarist Eddie Van Halen, drummer Alex Van Halen, singer David Lee Roth, and bassist Michael Anthony. All four members were part of the group during their initial breakthrough starting in 1974 and running until 1985.

The main source of a possible 2019 reunion of the famous rock band, which became a hugely successful act starting in 1978 following the release of their self-titled debut album, comes directly from Roth. The famous singer has begun sharing some vague details on what the band could be up to next summer, which might include a show at Yankee Stadium in New York City.

In an interview published to Vulture earlier this month, Roth admitted, “When we come back through town in the summertime and do the original thing, maybe somewhere sportin’, maybe with somebody famous … We don’t think about the price. Because, you know, next time my rock band will be playing the same place that the Yankees play.” When asked if he could confirm that Van Halen will be setting up shop at Yankee Stadium next summer, Roth replied in stating, “Yeah, but I can’t … If I say something on tape here and everybody goes, ‘Oh, this leaked…’ But, the band will be — I can’t say.”

Roth also went on to mention that the guest list of “somebody famous” could include members Metallica, Guns N’ Roses, Jason AldeanFoo Fighters, Eric Church, and Chris Stapleton. A reunion in 2019 would be the first time all four members would perform together since 1984, as Anthony parted ways with the group shortly before Roth rejoined Van Halen for a reunion tour in 2007. Eddie’s son, Wolfgang Van Halen, has been on bass duties in the year’s since. The band has been inactive since 2015.

Well-known classic rock radio DJ Eddie Trunk also stated during a recent show that he’s heard similar rumors about a potential stadium reunion tour scheduled for next summer. A portion of his speculation recorded during his radio show last week can be heard in the audio-based video below.

Former and current members of Van Halen could be going after the big payday which their fellow classic rockers, Guns N’ Roses, have been enjoying since Slash and Duff McKagan returned to their former band back in 2016. Guns N’ Roses’ ongoing Not In This Lifetime World Tour has since grossed a reported $563.3 million over 125 performance since it began back in the spring of 2016.
