More than just a heady musician and drummer, Ahmir Khalib Thompson, better known as Questlove turns 48 years old today. The backbone to Philadelphia hip hop and neo-soul band, The Roots, Questlove finds himself these days as part of the house band on Late Night with Jimmy Fallon on NBC alongside the Roots, often times partaking in some of the night’s comedic sketches. Proving to not be a one-trick pony, in 2013, he released his memoirs entitled Mo’ Meta Blues: The World According to Questlove, an exceptional piece of work that combines both auto-biographical anecdotes as well as Questlove’s interpretations and critiques of the history of modern hip hop and pop.

In celebration of Questlove’s birthday today, we take a look at several appearances Questlove has made at the Brooklyn Bowl over the years, including performances with SouliveD’Angelo, Elvis Costello, GalacticAnders Osborne, George Porter Jr., The Shady Horns, and more.
