Bluegrass legend Del McCoury has rounded up an all-star cast of musicians to celebrate his 80th birthday, taking place at Nashville, TN’s Grand Ole Opry on February 13th, 2019 (following McCoury’s actual 80th birthday on February 1st).
Dubbed “Grand Del Opry”, McCoury will be joined by his own Del McCoury Band along with specials guests Marty Stuart, Sam Bush, Ricky Skaggs, The Travelin’ McCourys, Vince Gill, and more. The “Grand Del Opry” event page notes that artists will be added as they are confirmed, and a complete artist lineup will be posted the week of the show.
McCoury has a long-standing history of performing at the Grand Ole Opry since the 1960’s, and officially became a member in 2003. In May of last year, 50 years after McCoury released his 1968 album Del McCoury Sings Bluegrass, the iconic musician and his band released their latest studio effort, Del McCoury Still Sings Bluegrass.
