Members of the Grateful Dead reunited in 2008 to play a show at Penn State University to raise funds for Presidential candidate Barack Obama. After President Obama won the election and took office, he invited the band to the White House. Drummer Bill Kreutzmann‘s son Justin Kreutzmann filmed the occasion and recently shared some of his footage.

The Grateful Dead’s “core four” of Kreutzmann, Bob Weir, Mickey Hart and Phil Lesh teamed with Warren Haynes and Jeff Chimenti as “The Dead” for the performance at Penn State on October 13, 2008. As such, President Obama invited all six musicians and their families to meet him at the White House. Check out some of Justin Kreutzmann’s footage:

In other politically-related news, Mickey Hart was a guest of Nancy Pelosi today at the United States Capitol in Washington D.C. today as the House Of Representatives opened the 116th Congress.
