Neil Young Busts Out ‘Ambulance Blues’ In Minneapolis

244

Neil Young continued his solo tour of the Midwest on Saturday in Minneapolis. Last night the legendary singer-songwriter played the historic Pantages Theatre, his first of four shows at four different venues around the city.

Young opened the evening with his first solo take at a fully-solo show on “Ambulance Blues” since 2003. Last night also marked the first public performance of the track from On The Beach since 2008 outside of one play with Promise Of The Real. The 73-year-old musician would go on to mix beloved classics and rarities. The night also included performances of “Green Is Blue” and “Olden Days,” a pair of brand new songs that he debuted during the tour’s opening night. Fan-favorites such as “Old Man,” “Rockin’ In The Free World,” “Like A Hurricane,” “Ohio,” “Everyone Knows This Is Nowhere” and “Heart Of Gold” also made the setlist.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Famer additionally delivered “See The Sky About To Rain” for just the fourth time since 1999. “Journey To The Past” made its way into the setlist for its third rendering since 2014. While “Old King” was played for the third show in a row, the cut from Harvest Moon had only been performed once prior in nearly a decade.
