Sister Sparrow & Dirty Birds Cover ‘Bridge Over Troubled Water’ For Relix Session

194

Yesterday, Relix premiered a new video of Sister Sparrow & The Dirty Birds performing “Bridge Over Troubled Water.” Released as part of the outlet’s Relix Sessions, the video finds the Brooklyn-based seven-piece sounding as soulful as ever.

The band is no stranger to the Grammy-winning Simon And Garfunkel tune, as the band has been performing its cover of the 1970 classic for years during their live shows. With Arleigh Kincheloe (also known as the band’s namesake, Sister Sparrow) front and center, the ballad is perfectly suited to the frontwoman’s powerful voice. With graceful and sparse instrumental ornaments across the recently released studio rendition, the performance shows a band fully aware of its strengthens and how to highlight them.

After a stunning return to Jam Cruise last week, Sister Sparrow kicks off their winter tour in promotion of last year’s Gold this weekend in Fall River, Maine, followed up by a stop at the legendary Levon Helm Studios in Woodstock, New York. After a month off the road, the band will return in March for the West Coast leg of their tour, with a three-night run in California in the beginning of March. To close out the tour, the band will wind through Washington and Oregon before a two-night run across Colorado’s Front Range at the end of March.
