Skull & Roses Festival will return to the Ventura County Fairgrounds in Ventura, California on April 5th through 7th, 2019.
Celebrating the spirit, energy, and community of the Grateful Dead, the third annual Skull & Roses Festival lineup features an impressive roster of Dead-inspired outfits, including Oteil & Friends (Melvin Seals, John Kadlecik, Scott Metzger, Weedie Braimah and John Kimock), Rebirth Brass Band, and Melvin Seals & JGB at the top of the bill.
The initial lineup is rounded out by Stu Allen & Mars Hotel, Grateful Shred, Zach Nugent’s Disco Dead, Cubensis, Xtra Ticket with Dave A-Bear, Jerry’s Middle Finger, Electric Waste Band, China Cats, Shaky Feelin, The Noodles, One-Eyed Jack, The Higgs, Richard Pictures, Reckoning with Stu, Zach, & Dave A-Bear, Fragile Thunder with David Gans, VC/DC, Ventura County Dead Collective, T.H.U.G.Z., Tribal Hippie Underground Zone, Wahlbangers, Wake Of The Dead, and house band The Alligators.
Snuggled up to the blue Pacific Ocean in that funky bull full of memories that many thousand Dead Heads can still feel, taste, and remember, attendees can expect a veritable Grateful Dead Garden. Bands will perform full sets across two stages, bringing together a wide range of unique Grateful Dead interpretations.
“The music of the Grateful Dead wasn’t just assorted songs – it became a full, detailed language that musicians can speak and Dead Heads can dance to. It was so fertile that it generated an entire subculture, which shows no signs of flagging,” the event explains. “But how will that carry on into the next generation? Skull & Roses answers with the spirit of the Dead that doesn’t just endure; it thrives.”
