Tonight, Thursday, January 31st, instrumental prog-fusion quartet TAUK will kick off their winter tour with a performance at Portland House of Music in Portland, ME. Ahead of the early-2019 stretch, the band has stoked fan excitement by sharing a full multi-camera video of their 2018-2019 New Year’s Eve performance at Baltimore Soundstage in Baltimore, MD.

The performance featured an opening set by The Fritz and saw members of the opening act rotate in with TAUK throughout their second of two sets on the evening. TAUK’s second set on New Year’s Eve opened with “Afro-Tonic”, a selection from their 2013 record, Homunculus, featuring The Fritz’s Mikey “Spice” Evans on percussion. From there, Spice stayed in the mix and The Fritz keyboardist/vocalist Jamar Woods joined the fray to lead the band on vocals for a New Year’s Eve-appropriate rendition of Europe classic, “The Final Countdown”, as balloons rained down on the crowd. The Fritz/TAUK connection continued as The Fritz guitarist Jamie Hendrickson joined in as well for a Woods-sung cover of Talking Heads‘ “Life During Wartime”.

You can watch the entire performance below, shot and edited by Camera Gilson featuring live audio by Devin Runco, sound mixing by Robert Carranza, and lights by Jason Patsel:

Unfortunately, due to technical issues, TAUK’s encore-opening cover of Thundercat‘s “Them Changes” is not included in the video above. However, just a few weeks later during drummer Isaac Teel‘s Jam Room set on Jam Cruise, Teel led his TAUK brethren on drums and vocals in another rendition of “Them Changes” featuring help from Kamasi Washington and more. You can watch fan-shot footage of that performance below:
