Tedeschi Trucks Band’s Kofi Burbridge Suffers Health Setback

169

Tedeschi Trucks Band multi-instrumentalist Kofi Burbridge will take time off from the group after suffering a setback related to his heart surgery in 2017. Keyboardist Gabe Dixon will fill-in for Burbridge while he recovers from a follow-up surgery.

Burbridge underwent emergency heart surgery in June 2017 that sidelined the 57-year-old keyboardist/flutist for several months. Burbridge returned to the stage with TTB at the group’s Beacon Theatre residency in October 2017.

The announcement from Tedeschi Trucks Band indicates Burbridges remains hospitalized while in recovery. The message notes doctors “feel good” about his progress and he is expected to be released from the hospital soon.

No timeframe was given for how long Burbridge will remain away from the band. Tedeschi Trucks Band returns to the stage on January 17 at the Paramount Theater in Cedar Rapids, Iowa with bassist Brandon Boone filling in for Tim Lefebvre who recently exited after five years in the group.

JamBase wishes Kofi a full and speedy recovery.
