On Friday night, The Disco Biscuits opened up their two-night weekend run at Washington, D.C.’s Lincoln Theatre, ahead of a performance tonight at The Anthem. Last night’s show marked the band’s first performance of 2019.
The Disco Biscuits opened up their first set with “Plan B”, played for only the fourth time since 2013. Bassist Marc Brownstein and drummer Allen Aucoin locked into a tight-knit groove, as Jon “Barber” Gutwillig laid down some delicate and intricate guitar work. Last night’s “Plan B” set opener set the old-school tone for the evening, as the band worked through an improv-heavy segue with “M.E.M.P.H.I.S.” into “Spacebirdmatingcall”. The Biscuits served a “Confrontation” sandwich to close the first set, with “Air Song” placed in the middle of the mix.
Following a brief set break, The Disco Biscuits returned to open up their second set with a cover of Men Without Hats’ “The Safety Dance”, before launching into a noteworthy take on “And The Ladies Were The Rest Of The Night”. The band continued to seamlessly flow forward, as they moved into a hearty helping of “Astronaut”-> “Digital Buddha”-> “Astronaut”. The quartet hopped back into “And The Ladies Were The Rest Of The Night” to bring their rowdy second set to a close. “Magellan Reprise” served as the evening’s lone encore.

The Disco Biscuits head to Washington, D.C.’s Anthem tonight, for their second scheduled performance of the weekend. Next up on The Disco Biscuits schedule is a three-night run next weekend at Port Chester, NY’s Capitol Theatre.
