Colorado’s groove-centric funk act The Motet is gearing up to release their newest studio effort Death Or Devotion, due out on January 25th, 2019. The Denver, CO seven-piece consisting of Dave Watts (drums), Joey Porter (keys), Garrett Sayers (bass), Ryan Jalbert (guitar), Lyle Divinsky (vocals), Drew Sayers (sax) and Parris Fleming (trumpet) has shared a new single, “Highly Compatible”, ahead of their upcoming album’s release.

“Highly Compatible” is a disco-inspired love song and will be featured as the new album’s opening track. “It’s like that beautiful moment of falling in love where you recognize something as supremely real-life magic,” vocalist Lyle Divinsky said in a press release. “Harry Potter couldn’t conjure a better spell. It’s the magnetic nature of the chemistry. We captured that chemical recognition.”

The Motet – “Highly Compatible”

“Highly Compatible” is the fourth single released by The Motet from the upcoming album, following “Watcha Gonna Bring“, “Supernova” and “Get It Right”.

Since The Motet’s inception in 1998, they’ve released eight full-length albums and toured the country relentlessly, playing hundreds and hundreds of shows from coast-to-coast. Death Or Devotion will mark the first Motet studio effort in which Lyle Divinsky, Drew Sayers, and Parris Fleming were all involved with all aspects of the upcoming record, from writing to recording, and finally mastering and preparing for release.

The Motet kicks off their winter tour dates this weekend with shows in Aspen and Telluride. Then, following their performance on Jam Cruise 17 next week, the band will make their way across the country through mid-March hitting such markets as Salt Lake City, Seattle, Portland, Berkeley, Charlotte, Richmond, Washington, DC, Atlanta and Nashville, among others. Additionally, The Motet will stop in Boston, Philadelphia, and Brooklyn alongside fellow funk band Galactic, with whom they’ll also co-headline Red Rocks Amphitheatre with on Friday, July 12. This summer’s date will mark the band’s fifth annual appearance at the legendary venue in their home state of Colorado. Full routing can be found below.
