The String Cheese Incident reached into their vault for the latest edition of their Travelogue series. Compiled by SCI Archivist Larry Fox, the four-disc set that is available as a free download via via nugs.net features 29 songs, culled from shows throughout 2018.
The more than three-hour long compilation mixes the band’s classic material, newer cuts and covers along with a number of tunes that featured sit-ins from the likes of John Kadlecik, Rayland Baxter, Jen Hartswick and Jeff Pevar. The “first set” is highlighted an expansive 20+ minute take on “Howard” from last summer’s Electric Forest festival in Rothbury, Michigan. Fox also selected a trifecta of tunes from the band’s July 8 show in Eugene, Oregon as they offered up “Just One Story,” “MLT” with Pevar and a take on Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers’ “You Wreck Me” that features Kadlecik on guitar and vocals.
The “second set” of the comp includes the Peter Rowan-penned bluegrass classic “Midnight Moonlight. A nearly half-hour pairing of “Black Clouds” and “The Big Reveal” from November 3 in Worcester and an exploratory take on “Rivertrance” that featured the traditional song “Pretty Polly” within.
