On the heels of their 2018-2019 New Year’s blowout at Atlanta, GA’s The TabernacleUmphrey’s McGee has shared pro-shot video from their horn-assisted 12/31/18 performance. The three-set show saw the band bust out a number of long-lost songs and welcome longtime collaborator Michael “Mad Dog” Mavridoglou and his Filthy Little Secret Horns to augment the celebration and wage musical war with Umphrey’s for an encore “Horns vs. Band Challenge”.

Among the brass-infused numbers at Umphrey’s McGee’s New Year’s performance was a rendition of Miles Davis‘ “It’s About That Time”, marking the band’s first rendition of the song since it closed set two on 3/17/17 in Las Vegas, a gap of 151 shows. Now, the band and webcast partner TourGigs have shared a pro-shot video of the New Year’s Miles Davis cover online, along with a famous quote from Davis himself that rings just as true in the Umphrey’s world: “I’ll play it first and tell you what it is later.” Check it out below.
