Greensky Bluegrass closed out their tour with a weekend run at The Fillmore in Detroit, Michigan–just two hours from their hometown of Kalamazoo. On Friday night, the band spelled out “Detroit, MI” to honor the evening’s locale. The shenanigans continued on Saturday night with collaborative sit-ins from the opening band members of Billy Strings.

Last month, the jamgrass quintet released their seventh studio album, All For Money, via the band’s own label, Big Blue Zoo Records. The follow up to 2016’s Shouted, Written Down & Quoted, the new twelve-track record was recorded at Echo Mountain Recording in Asheville, NC alongside co-producers Dominic John Davis (Jack White’s longtime bassist) and Glenn Brown.

The new album was on full display on Saturday night, weaving in “Do It Alone”, “Ashes”, “Murder of Crows”, “Like Reflections”, and a set-closing “What You Need” to a room of adoring fans. Billy Strings and his bandmates started trickling into the set about half-way through with energetically-charges versions of “Little Maggie”, “Second That Emotion”, “Meet Me at the Creek”, “White Waiting”, and more, taking full advantage of their final night on the road together. Greensky Bluegrass officially closed the tour with a cover of the Grateful Dead‘s “Black Muddy River” in the encore slot.
