Today would have been late, legendary The Beatles guitarist George Harrison’s birthday. The beloved member of the Fab Four was also prolific in his solo endeavors, which included many memorable collaborations. Harrison was just 58-years-old when he passed away in November 2001, sadly bringing an end to the life of one of the most influential musicians in rock ‘n’ roll history.
Harrison’s non-Beatles output included solo albums such as his outstanding 1970 triple LP All Things Must Pass, 1981’s Somewhere In England, 1987’s Cloud Nine and the posthumous 2002 release Brainwashed. George was also a member of the all-star supergroup The Traveling Wilburys alongside fellow legends Bob Dylan, Tom Petty, Roy Orbison and Jeff Lynne.
The playlist below features Harrison playing guitar, slide guitar and at times producing tracks by the likes of his fellow Beatles John Lennon and Ringo Starr and the aforementioned Dylan, Petty, Orbison and Lynne. George can also be heard backing Cream, James Taylor, Leon Russell, David Bromberg, Nicky Hopkins, Ronnie Wood and a few others.
