The 29th annual High Sierra Music Festival will take place at Plumas-Sierra County Fairgrounds in Quincy, California on July 4 – 7. Organizers of the event today unveiled the second round of the 2019 High Sierra lineup.
Umphrey’s McGee will return to Quincy for their first appearance at High Sierra since 2015 and seventh overall. Leftover Salmon, who first played the festival in 1994, heads back to High Sierra this year. Then, there’s The New Mastersounds who like LoS last performed at HSMF in 2016. In addition, Mandolin Orange will make their festival debut this July. The McCoury Family are also part of today’s announcement as the Del McCoury Band, Del & Dawg (Del McCoury & David Grisman) and The Travelin’ McCourys will each perform at the fairgrounds.
Luther Dickinson, along with Birds of Chicago and Sharde Thomas, will present his new project, Sisters of the Strawberry Moon, while Reid Genauer & Folks will feature a special lineup to be revealed at a later date. BIG Something, The Lil Smokies, Songhoy Blues, Joe Craven & the Sometimers, Amo Amo, Marty O’Reilly & The Old Soul Orchestra and Let’s Be Leonard round out the second wave of the High Sierra Music Festival’s 2019 lineup.
All of the acts revealed today join a lineup that already included Greensky Bluegrass, Jim James (with his full band), St. Paul & The Broken Bones, Galactic, Pigeons Playing Ping Pong, Karl Denson’s Tiny Universe presents Eat a Bunch of Peaches, The Marcus King Band, ALO, The Polish Ambassador, The Nth Power (for a very special Marvin Gaye Tribute), Jennifer Hartswick Band, Cris Jacobs Band, Cha Wa and Ron Artis II & The Truth.
The history of High Sierra dates back to July 4 – 7, 1991; when the festival was held in Leland Meadows, California. HSMF has been held over July 4th weekend or close to it ever since. In 1998, the event moved to Plumas-Sierra Fairgrounds and the site has hosted High Sierra ever since with the exception of 1999. High Sierra trademarks include intimate Artist Playshops and songwriter-driven Troubadour Sessions. Stay tuned for the playshop and Troubador Sessions lineups as well as the slate of separately-ticketed late night concerts. Outside of the music, festival-goers can enjoy yoga, pilates, dance classes, family activities and daily parades.
