Jason Isbell was one of the headlining performers on the recently completed 12th installment of the Cayamo music festival at sea. Cayamo took place aboard a cruise ship between February 10 and 17 with stops in Jamaica and Mexico. Isbell not only performed with The 400 Unit, but played as part of his band mate Sadler Vaden and wife Amanda Shires after-hours concerts.
As Rolling Stone points out, Isbell took part in a version of The Allman Brothers Band’s classic “In Memory Of Elizabeth Reed” during one of Vaden’s late night sessions. The “Liz Reed” also featured longtime Gregg Allman Band keyboardist Peter Levin, dobroist Jerry Douglas and other members of the 400 Unit.
