Joe Russo’s Almost Dead Announces Frost Amphitheater Debut

143

When Joe Russo’s Almost Dead detailed their 2019 touring schedule, the lack of a Bay Area concert was surprising. It turns out the Grateful Dead tribute act will play the newly renovated Frost Amphitheater on the campus of Stanford University in Palo Alto, California on August 17.

The concert is part of a series held through a partnership of Stanford and the promotion company Goldenvoice. Renovations include “state-of-the-art stage and other front and back-of-house amenities that improve conditions for audience members and performers,” as per The Mercury News. Grateful Dead scholar Blair Jackson noted the Grateful Dead played a total of 14 shows at the venue between 1982 and 1989 and called it his favorite Grateful Dead venue ever.

A pre-sale will be held through the band’s Facebook page on Tuesday, February 26 at 10 a.m. PT. Tickets then go on sale to the general public this Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m. PT.
