Pop star Kelly Clarkson brought her Meaning Of Life tour to Little Caesars Arena in Detroit on Thursday night. Clarkson honored recent Grammy winner Brandi Carlile with an emotional cover of “The Joke.”
Kelly’s version of “The Joke” came halfway through her set. Clarkson introduced the song by talking about her love for Carlile. “She’s so inspiring, talented and just an amazing human being,” Kelly said before noting she’s been covering Brandi’s songs for years. The first American Idol mentioned Brandi did an amazing job with the song at the Grammys and that she hopes she does Carlile’s tune justice.
