Burlington, VT-based singer, songwriter, artist, and actress Hayley Jane does it all. No matter the setting, Hayley Jane never fails to put on an emotionally-charged performance, whether it’s with her rock-Americana band Hayley Jane & The Primates, her duo Yes, Darling with Ryan Montbleau, her solo endeavors, or sharing the stage with countless of the scene’s favorite live acts.
For her latest studio endeavor, she teamed up with The Main Squeeze keyboardist Ben “Smiley” Silverstein on a new pop earworm, “Ignite”. Through his years playing in The Main Squeeze and working as a producer in Los Angeles, Smiley has established a vast network of musical friends and collaborators. For his debut collaborative effort with Hayley Jane, Smiley enlisted the support of percussionist Jason Hann (The String Cheese Incident), guitarist Max Newman (The Main Squeeze), and producer Teddy Roxpin (Mac Miller) to provide their respective expertise in the recording studio.
Co-written by Hayley Jane and Smiley, “Ignite” opens up with Hayley Jane’s lush, layered vocals before the song’s bouncing beat filters in. “Ignite” carries a graceful and delicate aura despite Hayley’s thought-provoking lyrics. The track’s winning incorporation of pop elements marks something of a departure from Hayley Jane’s folkier roots but, in doing so, gives listeners a glimpse at her veritable mainstream star potential. The added touch from Hann, Newman, and Roxpin guarantees to evoke the inner pop music lover in anyone who listens.
As Hayley Jane shares about the song’s origins, “‘Ignite’ is all about taking action, lighting your fire, and letting nothing put it out. It encourages the listener to let go of the things that no longer serve them and continue to move forward.”
