Sinkane Announces New Album ‘Dépaysé’ & Shares Single

Sinkane will release a new album entitled Dépaysé on May 31 through City Slang. The group will support the new album featuring the lead single “Everybody” with newly confirmed tour dates in June.

Led by Ahmed Gallab, who was born in England to Sudanese parents and raised in the United States, Sinkane’s membership consists of keyboardist Elenna Canlas, guitarist Jonny Lam, bassist Ish Montgomery and drummer Chris St. Hilaire. The album’s title is French for, “to be removed from one’s habitual surroundings.”

“Sinkane is an American band comprised of people from all over the world,” Gallab stated. “Our collective experience as children of the diaspora helped bring the music to life in the most honest way possible. ‘Dépaysé’ is the story of an immigrant’s journey of self-discovery in the Trump era. The music is loud and raw, and it’s bursting with an energy unlike anything I’ve ever done before.”

Sinkane will tour in Europe and the U.S. this June. Tickets to the newly confirmed dates go on sale Friday, March 1 at 10 a.m. ET.

Filmed in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil at the Escola de Samba Paraíso do Tuiuti samba school and “dedicated to the brave men, women and children fighting against oppression in places like Brazil, Sudan, and all over the world #تسقط_بس,” watch the Bruno Ferreira-directed video for “Everybody” below:
