Tedeschi Trucks Band Play 2nd Of 2 In Washington, D.C.

Tedeschi Trucks Band brought an emotional two-night run at the Warner Theatre in Washington, D.C. to a close on Saturday. A night after celebrating the release of Signs, the Susan Tedeschi and Derek Trucks fronted act worked in a number of songs that paid tribute to Kofi Burbridge, who passed away on Friday.

With the venue’s marquee honoring Burbridge reading “We Will Miss Our Brother” and a stage adorned with floral arrangements the rock and soul ensemble got their evening going with The Four Tops “Loving You Is Sweeter Than Ever.” The 12-piece act continued to acknowledge their bandmate with “Walk Through This Life” from their newly issued LP and The Lovin’ Spoonful’s “Darlin’ Be Home Soon.” Bob Dylan’s “Down In The Flood,” their recently revived take on the Allman Brothers Band’s “Don’t Keep Me Wonderin’” and jammed-out versions of “Idle Wind” and Derek & The Dominos “Keep On Growing” helped highlight the middle portion of the evening.

Tedeschi Trucks Band delivered two more tributes to Burbridge to help close out their set. First up came a take on the Elmore James blues classic “Sky Is Crying,” which was followed by “I Want More” from their 2016 release Let Me Get By. “Let’s Go Get Get Stoned” served as the lone encore last night, closing out the run in our nation’s capital.
