249

The Bizarre World Of Frank Zappa hologram tour will start with nine U.S. shows this April before heading overseas for seven European shows in May. More dates will be added in the coming months. The hologram tour was developed by hologram developers Eyellusion in partnership with the late guitarist’s estate, the Zappa Family Trust.

The tour is currently scheduled to start at The Capitol Theatre in Port Chester, New York on April 19. From there, The Bizarre World Of Frank Zappa will come to Rochester, Red Bank (New Jersey), Huntington (New York), Boston, Albany, Wilkes-Barre (Pennsylvania), Collingswood (New Jersey) and Baltimore. Next up is the European run which begins with five previously announced performances in the U.K. and continues with stops in Belgium and The Netherlands.

Look for each concert to feature previously unseen footage of Frank Zappa performing in 1974. The late guitarist, who died in 1993, will be backed by former Zappa band members guitarists Ray White and Mike Keneally, bassist Scott Thunes and multi-instrumentalists Robert Martin and Ed Mann in addition to drummer and Zappa archivist Joe “Vaultmeister” Travers.. “In 1974, Frank Zappa transformed his Los Angeles rehearsal space into a sound stage and cranked out a passionate, trademark performance seen only by the camera operators in the room who captured every last bizarrely beautiful moment. This footage, locked away in the Zappa vaults for 44 years, will serve as the basis for what will be the world’s most ambitious hologram tour to date, blending live footage of Frank with outrageous visuals that offer a striking view into his complex musical works,” reads an announcement from the Zappa Family Trust.

Tickets for the U.S. shows go on sale this Friday, February 15 at 10 a.m. ET. Watch a trailer for The Bizarre World Of Frank Zappa:
