The Disco Biscuits Serve Up Bust Outs At 2nd Of 3 At The Capitol Theatre

158

The Disco Biscuits hit the midway point of their three-night stand at The Capitol Theatre on Friday. The jamtronica act dug into their catalog to unearth “Onamae Wa” and “Shadows” along with teasing a Billy Joel song at the historic rock palace.

The Philadelphia-born band got things going “Little Lai,” delivering the former setlist staple for just the third time since 2015. The four-piece dusted off “Onamae Wa” next, which had gone unplayed since October 30, 2015 – a span of 118 shows. Last night also marked just the second attempt on the tune —- which was debuted during their 2003 New Year’s Eve Battle of the Bands show —- since 2010. Old-school fan-favorite “Little Betty Boop” followed with The Disco Biscuits working in a tease of Billy Joel’s “The Stranger” prior to a set-closing take on “Spaga” that featured an inverted “Abraxas” in its midst.

The quartet served up a non-stop seamless second set that got off the ground with unfished takes on “King Of The World” and the fifth “We Like To Party” since 2011. The second surprise of the night followed as the band busted out “Shadow.” The rarity had been sitting on the shelf since July 16, 2015, and was played for just the 12th time ever. The segue-filled stanza came to a close with a version of “Caterpillar” that included “Bombs” dropped into the middle of it. The Disco Biscuits closed out their evening by looking to “Home Again” for their lone encore. Watch full show pro-shot video below:
