Yo La Tengo Going Long & Live Spotify Playlist

Yo La Tengo this week confirmed a performance at the Greek Theatre in Los Angeles on April 19 in support of Phish guitarist Trey Anastasio‘s new Ghosts Of The Forest project. The acclaimed group originally formed in Hoboken, New Jersey is the subject of this week’s installment of Saturday Stream.

For nearly 35 years, Yo La Tengo has consistently explored an eclectic palate of styles, pulling from their collective encyclopedic knowledge of recorded music to inform their varied but profoundly identifiable sound. The long solidified lineup of co-founding members, drummer Georgia Hubley and guitarist Ira KaplanJames McNew are just as adept at writing and performing lovely ballads and pop tunes as they are spending 20 minutes on noisy, freak-out improvisations. Yo La Tengo live shows are like their records: dynamic, enthralling, unsuspecting and always musically memorable.

Below is an updated and expanded version of a previously presented Yo La Tengo Spotify Playlist. The new edition once again collects the trio’s longest recordings from the past three decades, with the 23-minute “Electric Eye” from 2015 that’s now available to stream among the notable additions. The updated playlist also collects live tracks from throughout their career, including last year’s Spotify Singles session featuring a cover of Neil Young’s “Time Fades Away.” Stream the Spotify Playlist below:
