Anderson .Paak Salutes Lebron With ‘King James’ Single

130

On April 12, Anderson .Paak will issue his latest studio album, Ventura via Aftermath Entertainment. Paak’s shared the new single “King James” from the 11-track follow-up to late-2018’s Oxnard that was recorded during the same sessions.

Anderson pays tribute to basketball star Lebron James and exiled quarterback Colin Kaepernick in his new song. “We salute King James for using his chains to create some equal opportunities,” Paak sings about Lebron, while Kaepernick is feted with the lines “But when I finally took a knee, them crackers took me out the league.” He also takes aim at the plan to build a wall on the southern border by urging, “If they build a wall, let’s jump the fence.” Smokey Robinson, Lalah Hathaway, Andre 3000 and the late Nate Dogg are among those who contributed to Ventura.
