Billy Strings & Marcus King Cover ‘Summertime’ At Carter Vintage Guitars

Last year, Billy Strings and Marcus King debuted their collaborative project King & Strings. The guitarists reunited in Nashville to record a cover of the jazz standard “Summertime” at Carter Vintage Guitars.

Strings sang lead on the song that originally appeared in Porgy and Bess and has been recorded by the likes of Sam Cooke, Janis Joplin and Billie Holiday. For their session, Strings played a 1936 000-28 acoustic guitar, while King played a 1954 Telecaster, with both getting a chance to show them off with solos.

The duo will team up for another Kings & Strings set at Rooster Walk 11 in late-May. Watch Strings and King’s performance of “Summertime” below:
