Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on his senior aide Kellyanne Conway’s husband, calling him a “stone cold loser and husband from hell”. The US president accused George Conway of being “very jealous” of his wife’s White House position. The Twitter feud came after Mr Conway questioned the president’s mental fitness. Mr Trump issued a series of tweets over the weekend in which he attacked the late senator John McCain, Google and the Russia investigation, prompting Mr Conway to suggest the president had a narcissistic personality disorder. Mr Conway, a prominent conservative lawyer, has been a frequent critic of the president in recent months, even while his wife goes on television to defend her boss. But up until now Mr Trump has largely chosen not to respond to the attacks and suggesting he does not know Mr Conway. That all changed this week after Mr Conway did an interview with the Washington Post in which he said he tweets about Mr Trump in order to avoid taking his frustrations out on his wife. Frankly, it’s so I don’t end up screaming at her about it,” he told the newspaper. Mr Trump relied heavily on Mrs Conway, a longtime Republican pollster and strategist, to help steer his presidential campaign to victory in 2016. She is a trusted member of his White House inner circle. Mr Trump tweeted on Wednesday: “George Conway, often referred to as Mr. Kellyanne Conway by those who know him, is VERY jealous of his wife’s success & angry that I, with her help, didn’t give him the job he so desperately wanted.
