Jon Batiste recorded a pair of songs for a new installment of the Spotify Singles series. The Late Show bandleader performed a remixed version of “Don’t Stop” from his debut album along with a cover of Tupac Shakur’s “Changes.”
Batiste turned “Don’t Stop” from his 2018 LP Hollywood Africans from a slow meditation into a New Orleans jazz-fueled number. The musician also offered up his interpretation of Shakur’s “Changes,” which was released on the hip-hop icon’s posthumously released 1998 album Greatest Hits. The socio-politically charged song is based on and samples Bruce Hornsby’s 1986 hit “The Way It Is.” Listen to Jon Batiste’s Spotify Singles session below:
