Mike Gordon & Robert Walter Engage In Impromptu Jam Session With Doom Flamingo Members

94

On Monday, Mike Gordon and keyboardist Robert Walter had an off day from Gordon’s March tour yet wound up making music anyways. The pair jammed with members of Doom Flamingo at Bar Mash in Charleston last night ahead of Gordon’s show at Charleston Music Hall tonight.

Friend of JamBase Bryan Austin was on hand at Bar Mash last night and fills us in:

Bar Mash hosts live music every Monday night, which is great for supporting local musicians. The music can range from traditional jazz to jam to hip-hop to gospel. Last night was hosted by four members of Doom Flamingo: Thomas Kenney on guitar, Mike Quinn on sax, Ross Bogan on keys and Stu White on drums as well as plus Alex Kellner of Terraphonics on bass. Adam Williams of Dangermuffin sat-in on drums for a bit. Robert Walter joined in for a handful of songs. Mike got up at the end and played one tune. This was a totally unannounced, low key gig with maybe 40 – 50 people in attendance.

Watch video of the jam featuring Mike Gordon below thanks to Bryan:

Doom Flamingo next plays on Friday, March 29 at The Mercy Lounge in Nashville. The group then has a hometown show scheduled for April 27 at The Charleston Pour House.
