We are sad to report on the passing of Bernie Torme.

Torme, the former guitarist for Ozzy Osbourne and bands Gillan and Atomic Rooster, passed away peacefully last night as a result of double pneumonia at the age of 66.

His family issued this statement: “Bernie Tormé passed away peacefully on the 17th March 2019, one day short of his 67th birthday, surrounded by his family. He had been on life support for the past four weeks at a London hospital following post-flu complications. Bernie will be remembered for dedicating his life to his music for five decades. He will be sorely missed.” The guitarist was hospitalized last month with double pneumonia.

Torme was a great friend to the rock community, playing with many prominent members from bands like Iron Maiden, Twisted Sister, and Deep Purple.

Upon the death of guitar legend Randy Rhoades, Torme quickly stepped up to fill the position in Ozzy’s band. He played a small number of shows with him before leaving the band. A show in New York was attended by a young Zakk Wylde, who is quoted as naming Torme his hero.

Torme has recorded twenty four albums to date as an artist or bandmember, including his newest release last november. The new album, Shadowland, is a release from Bathroom Studios by his new trio group, and also features a guest appearance by Gillan member Colin Towns.
