Drew Emmitt talked “The Art Of The Setlist” with JamBase’s Scott Bernstein aboard Jam Cruise 17. Emmitt starts by explaining a last-minute change to the Leftover Salmon lineup for Jam Cruise and the band’s 30th interview. The pair then chat about how Drew puts together setlists for LoS shows. Drew reveals whether the group sticks to pre-planned setlists, how they came up with the songs they’d play with Phil Lesh at Red Rocks last year, the method of fitting in new tunes and more. The mandolinist also hints at a grand celebration of Salmon’s 30th anniversary that will be announced soon.

Arleigh Kincheloe, a.k.a Sister Sparrow then joined ScottyB on the boat to discuss her “Musical Mentors.” Kincheloe and Bernstein begin by talking about the band’s legendary performance in the atrium aboard Jam Cruise 13 and the lasting legacy of that set. The vocalist then takes Scotty through her musical history, which includes growing up in a musical family and accompanying her parents at gigs. She explains the genesis of Sister Sparrow, the mentorship of collaborator Carter Matschullat, going solo for the recently released Gold, the influence of Aretha Franklin and other topics.

The episode starts with JamBase’s David Onigman hosting “The Rundown.” DaveO kicks off the segment by talking about Phish‘s recent set of three shows in Mexico. Next comes a recap of tour announcements from the past few weeks including Willie Nelson‘s Outlaw Festival. Then, Onigman discusses the reports about Woodstock 50 coming to Watkins Glen, New York.
