The Lil Smokies Share The New Basement Tapes Cover ‘Kansas City’

Montana jamgrass act The Lil Smokies unveiled the latest installment of their SnowGhost Singles, a series of the band’s most-requested covers. The newest track shared by the string band features their rendition of The New Basement Tapes’ “Kansas City.”

“Kansas City” joins the previously released “Rocket Man”, “Going To California” and “Paperback Writer.” The song was first written by Bob Dylan and then recorded by the supergroup The New Basement Tapes featuring members of My Morning Jacket, Mumford & Sons, Dawes and Carolina Chocolate Drops, which was put together by producer T-Bone Burnett to bring new life to shelved Dylan lyrics.

“I wanted to learn this one the second I heard it, and it was a pleasure to record with the Smokies,” said The Lil Smokies fiddle player Jake Simpson in a press release. “I hope you enjoy our version of Kansas City.” Take a listen to the cover below and stay tuned for the final two SnowGhost Singles:
