The Rolling Stones are postponing their upcoming U.S. / Canada tour dates, including their highly anticipated appearance at New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

According to the band’s announcement, “Mick [Jagger] has been advised by doctors that he cannot go on tour at this time, as he needs medical treatment. The doctors have advised Mick that he is expected to make a complete recovery so that he can get back on stage as soon as possible.”

In a statement, Mick apologizes: “I’m so sorry to all our fans in America & Canada with tickets, I really hate letting you down like this. I’m devastated for having to postpone the tour but I will be working very hard to be back on the road as soon as I can. Once again, huge apologies to everyone.”

Tickets to the upcoming Rolling Stones concerts will be valid for rescheduled dates, which will be announced soon.

As for the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival, details about the Thursday, May 2nd lineup–which had required a separate, more expensive ticket to see the band perform–will be announced as soon as they are finalized. May 2nd ticketholders will receive full refunds and second weekend VIP packages will be adjusted.

If you had plans to go to New Orleans for the annual Jazz Fest and your plans are now squashed, fear not! Live For Live Music will be hosting late-night shows for the duration of the celebration.
