Umphrey’s McGee Busts Out Neil Young Cover At Penn’s Peak: Full Show Audio

130

Umphrey’s McGee resumed their Wax On, Wax Off Tour with a concert at Penn’s Peak in Jim Thorpe, Pennsylvania. Thursday’s show featured an encore bust out of Neil Young’s classic “Cinnamon Girl.”

Before the bust out, UM opened the show with “Seasons” and followed the newer tune with a jammed out “Got Your Milk (Right Here).” A transition into “Professor Wormbog” was followed by fellow staples “Roulette,” “Uncommon” and “The Bottom Half.” A combo of “Comma Later” with guitarist Jake Cinninger joining keyboardist Joel Cummins for a portion of the jam and “Andy’s Last Beer” brought an end to the first set.

“The Silent Type” kicked off the second set, followed by a stretched out “Dump City.” Guitarist Brendan Bayliss then led a take on “Whistle Kids,” which was followed by “Phil’s Farm” featuring “Nemo” within. UM packed another big jam into “Mantis” leaving it unfinished before segueing into the set-closing “Believe The Lie.”

Stage manager Robbie Williams celebrated his birthday by briefly joining the band “on Woooo” for the encore-opening “Cinnamon Girl.” Thursday’s bust out was UM’s the sixth performance of the song, and first since 2013, spanning 526 shows between plays. The rarity led to the conclusion of “Mantis” and the end of the show. Umphrey’s continues their Wax On, Wax Of Tour tonight in Pittsburgh. Listen to Thursday’s show via taper opsopcopolis below:
