On Saturday night, Umphrey’s McGee continued their West Coast winter tour with a performance at Seattle, WA’s Showbox SoDoGhost-Note–the explosive brainchild of Snarky Puppy alumni, drummer Robert Sput Searight and percussionist Nate Werth–handled the evening’s opening duties with an uptempo, funky set.

Umphrey’s McGee opened up their first set with “Glory” before smoothly segueing into “Rocker Part 2”. The six-piece moved forward with “Sociable Jimmy”, played for only the second time in 2019, which was followed up by “Conduit”. Backed by Kris Myers, Ryan Stasik, and Andy Farag‘s tight-knit rhythm section, Brendan Bayliss and Joel Cummins laid down some silky-smooth vocal harmonies on last night’s hard-hitting “Conduit”. A seamless pairing of “Nothing Too Fancy” into Make It Right” followed before the sextet brought their first set to a halt with a cover of Paul McCartney and Wings‘ “Live and Let Die”, played only eight times since 2015.

Following a brief setbreak, Umphrey’s McGee returned to open their second set with “Draconian”, which was followed up by “Seasons” and “JaJunk”. Jake Cinninger let it rip during last night’s “JaJunk”, with lighting designer Jefferson Waful adding his swirling rainbow effects. The band invited up Ghost-Note percussionist Nate Werth, keyboardist Vaughn Henry, and saxophonist Sylvester Onyejiaka to add their funky touch on “Booth Love”, which was followed up by a set-closing segue of “Intentions Clear” back into “JaJunk”. Umphrey’s returned to the stage for a two-song encore performance of Stevie Ray Vaughan‘s “Lenny” and “The Floor”.

Umphrey’s McGee continues their tour, tonight, Sunday, March 10th, with a performance at The Hive in Sandpoint, ID. For ticketing information and a full list of the band’s upcoming tour dates, head to Umphrey’s McGee’s website.
