Yonder Mountain String Band charged into Indianapolis, IN on Thursday for just the second performance of their 2019 spring tour with support from Fireside Collective. The progressive bluegrass outfit’s headlining performance at The Vogue Theatre included a mix of songs from their 20-year discography, ranging from old favorites to some of the newer material from their more recent studio releases.

The performance on Thursday took place just a few days after the veteran roots-rock outfit treated fans to their latest original single, “Nowhere Next”, which of course found its way into last night’s setlist. The show started with “Hey Day”, and continued into “Part 1 (Lord Only Knows)” before transitioning right into “Left Me In a Hole”. They continued with another original tune, “Sideshow Blues”, before turning to their first cover of the night with a live rendition of Jim Croce‘s “I Got A Name”. The first half of the show continued with another original in “High On A Hill Top”, which was followed by another cover, this time with their version of Dolly Parton‘s famous country hit, “Jolene”.

The show kept rolling as they performed “Troubled Mind”, which continued into “20 Eyes” before returning to “Troubled Mind” and right into “Take A Chance On Me” to keep the energy going into the latter half of their show. “Next up was “Travelin’ Prayer”, another tune out of the Parton songbook, followed by “Chasing My Tail” into a Celtic-based jam. The set closed with that new single of theirs in “Nowhere Next”, followed by “Angel”. The band returned to the stage for a two-song encore beginning with “Dancing In The Moonlight”, and closing with “Traffic Jam”.

The band’s spring tour will continue on Friday with a scheduled performance at the House of Blues in Cleveland, OH. The band also announced on Friday that they will head to Charlotte, NC on May 3rd to perform at the city’s Sounds Of Summer concert series at First Ward Park. Fans can click here for tickets and tour info for the upcoming performances on their ongoing spring run.
