Better Oblivion Community Center Covers ‘Shallow’ With Nick Zinner In Brooklyn

253

Better Oblivion Community Center continued their debut tour at Brooklyn Steel in New York City on Monday, where they fit a cover of “Shallow” from A Star Is Born into their encore. The Conor Oberst and Phoebe Bridgers-led band was joined by Yeah Yeah Yeahs guitarist Nick Zinner for their version of Bradley Cooper & Lady Gaga‘s “Shallow” and more last night.

As Stereogum pointed out, Bridgers tweeted “petition to make conor do shallow with me on tour” back on February 24. Better Oblivion Community Center’s first tour has seen the band mix material from their lone album with songs from Conor and Phoebe’s career and choice covers such as The Replacement’s “Can’t Hardly Wait,” “Human” by The Killers and Death Cab For Cutie’s “Title & Registration.”

Monday’s show featured all 10 tracks from Better Oblivion Community Center, three of Bridgers’ tunes, a pair of Bright Eyes‘ songs, “Shallow” and “Can’t Hardly Wait.” Zinner emerged at the end of the main set for “Dylan Thomas” and “Scott Street.” Nick also added to the encore of “Shallow,” “Easy/Lucky/Free” and “Dominos.” Watch video of “Shallow” captured by Brooklyn Vegan:
