Singer Billie Eilish continues to thrive within the indie-pop and mainstream music scene with the arrival of her debut album late last month. Eilish’s breakthrough moment earned even more momentum when her When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go? LP debuted at number one on the Billboard 200 Chart in the U.S., while earning the second-largest sales figures for an album release in its first week so far in 2019.
Earlier this week, Eilish finally shared her animated video for “You Should See Me in a Crown” to her YouTube, almost a month after it debuted via Apple Music. The video features incredible design from famed Japanese contemporary artist Takashi Murakami, who reportedly claims to have spent eight months building the animated story using special motion-capture technology.
“I sprinted throughout the production process with my animation team striving to realize Billie’s vision in an unprecedented way,” Murakami added in a statement.
The video’s storyline introduces Eilish as what appears to be a relatively normal female character, who shows off some impressive dance moves to match with the song’s uptempo energy early on. Things quickly take a turn for the weird, as the video’s colorful world turns dark as Eilish’s character transforms into a spider-like monster while the song continues to build. Fans can check out the video below to watch the entertaining but dark animated story.

Eilish is currently in between both weekends of Coachella, where she’s one of the notable performers at this year’s festival. She’ll continue on her own headlining tour with shows in Australia and New Zealand later this month before returning to North America in late May for a run of performances throughout the summer.
