Jack Johnson and his wife Kim Johnson launched the global BYOBottle campaign promoting reusable water bottles at concerts. Coordinated in conjunction with the Sustainable Concerts Working Group, BYOBottle (Bring Your Own Bottle) partners include Dead & Company, The Lumineers, Bonnie Raitt, Ben Harper, Lukas Nelson, Jackson Browne, Keb’ Mo’, Wilco, Steven Van Zandt, Steve Earle and others. Several festivals also signed onto the campaign, such as Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits Music Festival, Sea.Hear.Now, California Roots, Telluride Blues & Brews Festival, The Ohana Fest, Bluesfest Byron Bay, Splendour in the Grass and more.

Green Music Australia previously introduced the BYOBottle campaign that encouraged Australian musicians to opt for reusable bottles in their tour riders and for venues and events to offer alternatives to single-use plastics.

“There is a powerful wave of momentum building to reduce plastic pollution,” Jack Johnson stated. “BYOBottle is a campaign that the entire music industry can unite around, and everyone I’ve been talking with is excited to join and be part of a solution. Expectations are changing around what makes a positive and successful music event, and sustainability is a huge part of that. I’m excited to help show what concerts can look like if artists work together with fans and venues or festivals to reduce plastic waste.”
