John Prine will not perform at the 50th annual New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival on Saturday as previously scheduled. Elvin Bishop’s Big Fun Trio will take Prine’s spot in the lineup.
“After a routine medical procedure his doctor has advised him he needs to extend his recovery time,” Prine’s management told Jazz Fest organizers, who passed along the message about the famed singer-songwriter in a tweet. The second weekend of this year’s event starts this Thursday, May 2 and runs through Sunday, May 5. Tickets for Jazz Fest are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
