Phil Lesh’s Friends In Las Vegas Include Blind Boys Of Alabama, Luther Dickinson, Jackie Greene & Others

197

Blind Boys of Alabama, Luther Dickinson, Jackie Greene and John Medeski will be among Grateful Dead bassist Phil Lesh‘s band mates for an upcoming Phil Lesh & Friends show. The Phil Lesh & Friends performance with this special lineup will take place at The Joint at Hard Rock Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas on May 4.

In addition to the Blind Boys Of Alabama, Luther Dickinson, Jackie Greene and John Medeski, Phil Lesh will round out the band with guitarist Junior Mack, vocalist Danielle Nicole and guitarist JD Simo. Greene was a member of Phil Lesh’s second semi-permanent Phil Lesh & Friends lineup, which toured in 2007 and 2008 ahead of The Dead’s 2009 reunion and the formation of Furthur. Jackie has played with Phil many times since. The Dickinson Brothers and Medeski have also made numerous appearances with Lesh over the last decade. Mack of Jaimoe’s Jasssz Band, frequent North Mississippi Allstars collaborators Danielle Nicole and JD Simo each made their Phil Lesh & Friends’ debuts as part of “Dead Blues” concerts at Terrapin Crossroads in San Rafael, California last June. Blind Boys Of Alabama will perform in Phil’s band for the first time on May 4.

Tickets for the show are on sale now via Ticketmaster.
